Anthropic maps Claude from antibody labs to clinical trial spreadsheets
Anthropic detailed six pharma partnerships and a Mithril acquisition on October 27, 2026, citing antibody, CAR-T, and regulatory wins still mostly preclinical.

Six partners, one thesis
On October 27, 2026 Anthropic published early results from Claude-assisted drug development with BigHat Biosciences, Bristol Myers Squibb, Divergence Labs, Enveda, Generate Biomedicines, and The Column Group. Most programs remain preclinical, but the post detailed concrete throughput gains across discovery, manufacturing review, and trial planning.
Anthropic also acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person rare muscular dystrophy startup whose founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude to coordinate eleven external labs; Anthropic said a candidate could reach human trials as early as late 2028 if progress holds.
Antibody and CAR-T wins
BigHat and Anthropic connected Claude to lab data system Reccy, iterating antibody fragments over about ten weeks with roughly 1,010 variants tested. Improved binders showed up to ninefold affinity gains and marked stability improvements; BigHat reported 1,232 antibodies synthesized in ten weeks across seven design rounds.
Generate Biomedicines used Claude to design a shorter CAR-T component—about 70% reduction—with roughly 10x receptor expression in lab tests, per StreetInsider summaries of Anthropic's release.
Regulatory and allergy pipelines
Enveda had Claude review 1,061 pages of manufacturing documentation, matching all eleven issues human reviewers flagged plus seven additional ones while cutting human review time 89%. Claude drafted one regulatory document in four hours versus an typical three months, Enveda said.
Divergence Labs generated around 35,000 antibody designs in a month for a food allergy program, identifying candidates for both arms of a proposed therapy.
Clinical planning at BMS
Bristol Myers Squibb uses Claude to assess early clinical trial plans and estimate success probabilities. SVP Michael Pourdehnad said Claude produced in one prompt an analysis that would otherwise take days, informing development options for hematology, oncology, and cell therapy programs with expansion planned in 2027.
The Column Group is launching Pleiades, a company built to run many Claude-assisted programs simultaneously—testing whether AI lowers biotech operating overhead enough to fund riskier science.
Caution for patients and investors
Anthropic stressed that faster documents and better molecules do not equal approved drugs. Preclinical wins can fail in toxicity, manufacturing scale-up, or pivotal trials.
Still, the partnerships show where Claude differentiates: long-context review of regulatory PDFs, tool-connected lab loops, and operational coordination—not just chat-based literature summaries.
